An incredible ending
The Eagles could’ve easily lost this game. A failed 2 point try by Dak Prescott and a Luke Schoonmaker overturned touchdown both came within inches of successful conversions. Tyler Steen’s fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter most certainly kept the Eagles alive. Also, if it weren’t for a sack by Josh Sweat with less to thirty seconds left to go, then this game would’ve resulted much differently for Philadelphia.
Coverage issues remain in Eagles Secondary
Despite the win, it’s clear the Eagles secondary still has weak links. Eli Ricks was uninspiring against Dallas. He was called for multiple penalties and often gave up big gains to Ceedee Lamb, who finished with 191 receiving yards. Kevin Byard also made a number of notable lapses in coverage, while James Bradberry had an inconsistent day.
Brian Johnson’s Best Performance Yet
The Eagles’ play calling was spectacular against the Cowboys. Brian Johnson made no obvious play-calling mistakes. His decision to call a shot-play when Micah Parsons came off the field and Daron Bland was in press coverage resulted in a 29 yard touchdown catch for Devonta Smith. A.J. Brown’s touchdown in the second half was also perfectly designed.
A Quiet Day for Parsons
Lane Johnson continues to succeed in matchups against Micah Parsons. This is even more impressive considering the Eagles’ game plan did not center around slowing Parsons with a quick passing game. Johnson simply dominated Parsons every time they lined up one on one. The superstar defender for Dallas had no impact plays as a pass rusher nor as a run defender.
