Offense
The Eagles offense scored six points and had three turnovers in their second straight abysmal performance. Jalen Hurts’ outing was not necessarily bad, but it wasn’t good either. Hurts did make a couple of elite deep ball throws against Dallas, but both were dropped by A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith respectively. The Eagles offensive line continues to look less dominant than last season, while Brian Johnson’s game plan and play calling remain woefully uninspiring. If the Eagles play calling doesn’t make significant strides come playoff time, then Philadelphia simply does not have a chance at winning a super bowl.
Defense
The Eagles defense ran into a peaking Dallas offense at possibly the worst time of the season. Their defensive line is clearly exhausted and overworked, while their secondary continues to face a multitude of injuries. The defense’s best performing position against the Cowboys was arguably their linebackers, which says everything about the group you need to know. Over the last three games, the Eagles defense has allowed 109 points. Overall, Sean Desai has done a lot with the talent he’s had, but there still should be questions regarding his coaching over the last month.
Adversity
The Eagles are currently facing the most adversity they’ve faced over the last two years. If they want to win their division and clinch a bye in the NFC, then they have to win all four of their last games. This is a steep task, especially for a team that has not put together a complete game since October. Philadelphia has a roster full of talent, and there’s no doubt that they’re still super bowl contenders. However, making a playoff run requires the Eagles to respond to the adversity they’re currently facing, and quickly.
