Jalen Hurts
Jalen Hurts had his best game of the season. He was a playmaker when Philadelphia needed it most and did not have any turnovers. He made two incredible throws to Olamide Zaccheaus and A.J. Brown during Philadelphia’s go-ahead drive at the end of the fourth quarter. The 11 yard conversion to Zaccheaus on third and eight was thrown with anticipation over the middle, while the 28 yard touchdown hit Brown perfectly in stride. Jalen Hurts refuses to lose. He’s 21-1 in his last 22 regular season starts. When facing double digit deficits in his last five starts, Hurts is undefeated.
an All-around RECEIVER
A.J. Brown has 18 receptions for 306 yards and two touchdowns in his last two performances for the Eagles. Brown did everything for Philadelphia against the Commanders. He made plays after the catch, deep downfield, and as a possession receiver. His first touchdown displayed his run after catch ability. His second touchdown displayed his deep-threat ability. And when Emmanuel Forbes played off-coverage, Brown reminded everyone of his abilities as a possession receiver.
Kudos to the Commanders’ offense
Eric Bieniemy devised a great game plan for the Commanders. He utilized motion and run-pass-options to displace Eagles defenders. He committed to a balanced attack, but didn’t run the ball on early downs too much. And most importantly, he let Sam Howell make plays at the end of the game. Howell went 29 for 41 with 290 yards, one touchdown, and no turnovers against a superb Eagles defense. Howell’s game tying drive at the end of the fourth quarter was clutch and full of big throws. The Commanders’ offense looked great.
Defensive Standouts
Multiple Eagles’ defenders impressed against Washington. Nicholas Morrow and Zach Cunningham looked like a competent starting linebacker duo. Morrow displayed his skills in pursuit with three sacks, while Zach Cunningham had 13 total tackles and two run stuffs at the line of scrimmage. Additionally, Morrow and Cunningham have not been liabilities in coverage this season. Reed Blankenship also looked great against the Commanders. He’s been even better at safety this year than he was last year. He’s flying to the ball, making tackles with ease, and playing stellar in coverage.
Jake Elliott
Jake Elliott has been elite for the Philadelphia Eagles this season. Against Washington, he made all four of his kicks, including a 54 yard game winner. This season Elliott is 13 for 14 on kicks with a long of 61 yards. Elliott has quietly been a great kicker in recent years, but this season he’s establishing himself as one of the NFL’s best.
