Eagles Defense Dominates
The biggest story for the Eagles was their defense. They held the buccaneers to 174 total yards. Philadelphia’s run defense has looked spectacular. Through three weeks they’ve only allowed 145 rushing yards. Sean Desai has turned the Eagles biggest weakness on defense last year to their biggest strength. In the pass game, the Eagles defensive line dominated today. The group was led by Jalen Carter, who had a half-sack and a forced fumble.
State of the Eagles’ Pass Game
Jalen Hurts made a number of remarkable plays today. His touchdown pass to Olamide Zaccheaus was one of the best plays of his career thus far. Hurts also displayed the value of his dual-threat mobility. He ran for five third down conversions. In his passing success, Hurts found AJ Brown nine times for 131 receiving yards. Brown displayed his elite ability after the catch on multiple plays today, particularly on slant routes. It’s good to see Philadelphia getting back to their “bread and butter” plays on offense.
Controlling the Clock
The Eagles’ time of possession in the second half was 23:35 minutes. They ran 44 plays in that time span, to the Buccaneers’ 15. Philadelphia was particularly dominant in their possession of the game. The drive lasted over nine minutes. It seems like whenever the Eagles need to close out games, their run game pulls through with a long drive.
